The WV Book Faire Edible Book Contest

Let your imagination and culinary talents go wild with the WV Book Faire Edible Book Contest!  To participate, create a piece of edible art related to books ... fiction, nonfiction, plays, poetry, or any genre you choose.  Entries must have something to do with the book, such as a scene, character, or cover.  

Special Guest Judge ... Chef Roland Mesnier, former White House Pastry Chef

When:  Saturday, April 17, 2010

Location:  Blue Ridge Community & Technical College, 400 W. Stephen St. in downtown Martinsburg  

Time

  • Set-up begins at 9 am
  • Judging at 11 am
  • Voting for People's Choice at 12 noon
  • Prizes awarded and Chef Roland speaks at 1 pm

Rules

  • Edible entry must have something to do with a book - based on the title, cover, or character. 
  • Anything edible is fair game for your creation - all mediums used must be entirely edible [with the exception of the base].
  • Participants will need to supply a 2-foot by 2-foot base for any creations presented.  Entries subject to disqualification if base requirement not followed.

  • There is no height requirement. 

  • Chefs of all ages and culinary abilities are encouraged to participate!

Categories and Registration Fees

  • Professional - $15 per entry
  • Culinary Student - $10
  • Home Chef - $5
  • Students (Grades 7-12) - $5
  • Children (Grades K-6) - $5

All proceeds from this competition will benefit a scholarship fund for students in the Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Academy of Culinary Arts.
